Staged houses tend to look staged, and the reason is usually that the furniture came from the same handful of rental catalogues as the last four houses a buyer walked through. A room with one piece nobody else has stops reading as a showroom.
Secondhand also means the wood is solid and the proportions are older, which photographs better in a small room than the large, soft, grey furniture staging tends to default to.
